National Security Council (NSC) Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby was recently asked in a White House briefing why the United States allows countries to profit off the oil when they don’t like Israel or America and instead increase oil production here.
In the video, you can see White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, ushering for another question, when the oil question gets asked.
The reporter made a good point: why are we continuously importing oil when we can increase production at home and stop sending billions of dollars to countries that don’t hold our values and don’t like us?
Here is the exchange:
REPORTER: “Countries that are profiting off of oil and the increased price in oil – don’t like Israel – don’t like America.”
KIRBY: “We certainly don’t – Russia to get a windfall in profits – so that they can turn that around and apply that to weapons in Ukraine.”
REPORTER: “Why not increase oil production here?!”
