Elon Musk is making headlines again with two ambitious announcements: a promise to give every American child a share of SpaceX stock and a prediction that the company could generate an astonishing $1 trillion in annual revenue by 2028.
A SpaceX Share for Every American Child
According to Forbes, Musk announced plans to distribute one share of SpaceX stock to every child in America beginning in 2027. With approximately 72 million children under 18, the giveaway could be worth an estimated $10.5 billion, based on a recent share price of roughly $147.
Musk hasn’t explained how the shares will be distributed, who will qualify, or whether the program will connect to the government’s existing investment accounts for children.
The announcement followed criticism of rival AI company Anthropic, which pledged 5% of its shares to a public benefit fund. Musk suggested that companies should distribute shares directly to the public instead.
SpaceX Sets Its Sights on $1 Trillion
Meanwhile, Musk has dramatically accelerated his financial ambitions for SpaceX.
According to Business Insider, Musk now believes reaching $1 trillion in annual revenue by 2028 is possible, moving up his previous target of 2030.
The numbers are staggering. SpaceX generated approximately $19 billion in revenue in 2025, meaning it would need to increase revenue more than 50-fold in just three years.
Recent results demonstrate impressive momentum. Third-quarter revenue approached $15 billion, representing 161% growth from the previous year. Much of that expansion came from the company’s artificial intelligence division, where revenue reportedly surged 830%.
Musk is also exploring a potential merger between Tesla and SpaceX, potentially combining their capabilities in AI, robotics, connectivity, and advanced technology.
Ambitious Vision or Unrealistic Expectations?
Despite SpaceX’s rapid growth, financial analysts remain skeptical. Reaching $1 trillion would mean surpassing the annual revenue of corporate giants such as Amazon and Walmart.
The proposed stock giveaway could introduce millions of young Americans to investing, while SpaceX’s aggressive expansion highlights Musk’s confidence in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
The Bottom Line
Musk’s announcements reflect his willingness to pursue extraordinary goals. Whether these promises become reality remains uncertain, but they raise important questions about corporate wealth, public ownership, and the future of technology-driven economic growth.
