This past week, the ongoing heatwave in Los Angeles severely strained the local power grid, leading to widespread outages across various parts of the city. With power companies working around the clock to restore service, residents were urged to conserve energy to avoid further disruptions.

The message was to minimize using your air conditioner and appliances during a 105+ heat wave. 

As part of the impact, the Hollywood Bowl was forced to cancel a concert featuring Vance Joy and Grouplove due to a power outage. The cancellation disappointed fans and was part of the broader blackout affecting thousands of homes and businesses.

As the Governor of California continues to push the state to an electric-centered grid, experts predict an unreliable grid and more blackouts. There is a growing chorus of people calling for an all of the above approach, especially when you try to factor in what this state is going to look like with more electric vehicles and AI chips that take up a tremendous amount of energy.
